This tour takes place in the Los Santos Forest Preserve and can be done either in one or two days.
The Tour leaves San Jose at 5:00 am. and travels through Cartago to the Santa Maria Dota region, part of Costa Rica's famous Tarrazu coffee production region. The Dota area is one of the finest mountain-grown coffee regions in the world. Alexander Ureña and his brothers manage several coffee farms that include primary rain forest, organic avocado and several coffee plantations.
This rafting trip has an intermediate level of difficulty and includes class II, III, and IV rapids.
We will pick you up in the briskness of Costa Rican early morning hours (5:00-6:00 a.m.) either by a Green Earth Coffee Van or by the van of our expert whitewater rafting team. Our partners, the Segura brothers from Pejivalle, Turriabla are in the top ten ranking in whitewater rafting on a world level. Manuel Segura is the founder of Costa Rica Extreme.
En route to the put-in site you will be treated to a traditional Costa Rican breakfast.
The Pacuare river has long regarded as the most scenic and best white-water rafting river in Costa Rica. The river passes through lush tropical jungle most of which is bordered on the south east by the friendly Cabecar Indian tribe and their mountain reservation homelands. Some of the Cabecar indians in this area grow organic natural rainforest shaded arabica coffee. The Pacuare is also considered one of the top five rafting rivers in the world.
Upon arrival you will be properly outfitted with life vests and safety helmets and given a rafting safety lesson by Costa Rica Extreme´s world class guides. Then you´ll be moving down the river stopping from time to time to catch your breath on the quiet streches to take in the other breathtaking aspect of this tour, its awesome beauty. You will also stop midway to bathe in a crystal clear mountain waterfall pool.
The Pacuare excursion includes: class II, III and IV rapids, waterfall hikes along the trails used by the native Indian villagers and lunch either along the river or at the Costa Rica Extreme Tent Camp (our 85 acre private reserve). For more advanced and experienced whitewater rafters we can offer a tour down the upper Pacuare. Only for advanced and extreme rafters!
We will put out a the town of Siquirres in the Limon province of Costa Rica. After a hearty Costa Rica meal and drive through the Braulio Carillo Rainforest we´ll transport you back to San Jose or to your next destination drop off.
