Process

During the journey from the crop to your cup, coffee travels a great distance and passes through many hands. Coffee engages all types of people--from the poor migrant workers who pick the berries to business executives who pick up a latte on their way to work.

Here is a brief overview of what goes on behind the scenes to create your coffee experience.

Seedling Nurseries

Nurseries help protect young coffee plants from harsh sunlight and bad weather.

Cultivation

Coffee growers must maintain their fields throughout the year.

Harvest

Migrant workers typically perform harvesting between September and March.

Processing

After being harvested, coffee must undergo either dry or wet processing.

Roasting

"Green" or processed coffee is bought by roasters who import, roast, and then sell it.

Enjoyed

Ground, Brewed, Enjoyed! Coffee is the delightful fruit of much labor!
